Formally trained in Graphic Design at Nottingham Trent University, I worked for 6 years as a designer at Cambridge University Press. During that time I worked on a very wide range of projects including:
- Primary and secondary level school textbooks
- Undergraduate and graduate level textbooks
- Trade and popular science titles
- Handbooks and field guides
- Academic monographs
- Standard text designs for major series
- Catalogues, publicity, and point of sale material
I also gained valuable experience of working closely with high profile authors, collaborating with in-house marketing and editorial functions, managing freelance teams, working with printers, and overseeing all aspects of design through to final print.
Freelance since 2003, I now work with many different publishers and companies. The majority of my projects are in book design, but I have the capacity to take on any area of print-based design. I regularly take on specialist Photoshop commissions and can offer additional services in photography and illustration. I am highly experienced in using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. I have up-to-date pdf software and can upload files direct to printers if necessary. I can provide fully marked up and detailed type specifications, and high-quality printed visuals if required.
I am fully set up to work from home, based in Ely, Cambridgeshire. I can provide pdfs of further work samples, or my full CV if required.
